Description:This is a limited edition, offset lithograph on woven paper titled "The Famous Model T Was Boss of the Road" It is after a painting by the American painter Norman Rockwell. The original painting was commissioned by the Ford Motor Company to commemorate their 50th Anniversary in 1953.
This piece is unsigned as issued. "The Famous Model T Was Boss of the Road, Street Was Never the Same Again" was released in a limited, unnumbered edition. The image measures approximately 20"h x 20"w and the framed dimensions are approximately 27.5"h x 27.5"w.
Rockwell (1894 - 1978) was a 20th century painter and illustrator of American genre scenes. His images are so iconic that they are immediately recognized and loved by almost everybody in America. The cover of The Saturday Evening Post was his showcase for over forty years, giving him an audience larger than that of any other artist in history. Over the years he depicted a unique collection of Americana, a series of vignettes of remarkable warmth and humor. His work dealt with socio economic themes that included woman's independence, segregation, the plight of the farming and urban poor, and traditional American family life from all classes. In addition, he painted a great number of pictures for story illustrations, advertising campaigns, posters, calendars, and books.
